Online Anarchy

Okay, so the revolution wasn't televised. But turn on your computer--you might be able to catch it there. Web-based Radio Volta is just one of the many mainstream media-flouting projects to come out of Philadelphia's Independent Media Center, and if you haven't yet checked it out, give the Rev. Bookburn's show a whirl. Every Sunday night the David Sedaris-voiced sweetie pie features clever and talkative guests, plays a lot of good punk, talks a fair amount about masturbation and always plans a unique theme to hang it all on, such as the recent 30th Anniversary of Eisenstadt v. Baird, the 1972 Supreme Court Victory that legalized birth control for non-married people. (I know, I know, it's unbelievable.) While the good Reverend rails against everybody with an agenda for others--this means you, church and state--he rants with humor and panache. Tonight's show is devoted to Easter and the theme is "The Things Some People Will Do to Get Nailed." If you grew up in a Christian household, I'll wait for you to pick yourself up off the floor and stop laughing before continuing. With an irreverent playlist that includes Martin Mull's "Jesus Christ, Football Star" and the little-known Jefferson Airplane song "Easter," this week's installment is a guaranteed sinful good time. See you in hell! Sun., March 31, 9-11pm. Free. www.radiovolta.org. (Katie Haegele)
