Here at Radio Volta News, our motto is, "pulling the plug on the powers that be!" From our studio in West Philadelphia, Radio Volta News broadcasts live every Monday evening from 8-10 PM. Tune in to hear original, independently produced features on topics that don't get much play on the mainstream news stations, but are of vital interest to the citizens of Philadelphia. Our coverage of local anti-war protests and actions, updates on the privitization scandal occurring in our public school system, and behind the scenes insight on the struggles facing our local poor and imprisoned populations are just a few examples of the types of stories you'll hear. You can also hear the best in national and international coverage courtesy of our colleagues at Free Speech Radio News and Counterspin, as well as in-depth media analysis from the folks at Between the Lines.
How do we live up to our motto of "pulling the plug?" By getting YOU to "plug in!" The Volta News Team is made up of an all-volunteer staff of independent producers, engineers, and news coresspondents. Keeping within the Indymedia tradition, we believe anyone can 'be' the media. If there are issues and events in your neighborhood that are going unreported and under-reported, and you are ready to do something about it, or if you just want more information about our programming, send an email to voltanews@phillyimc.org.
